Welcome - A Letter from our CEO
Hello and welcome! My name is David Gabrielsen, and I am Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ranpak Corp., a position which I have held since March of 2002. As you may know, if you have browsed some of our web site, Ranpak is a global supplier of paper-based, in-the-box, protective packaging materials. We market our patented systems globally and we maintain manufacturing operations in Ohio, Nevada, Kansas, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
Ranpak is based in Concord Township, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb, and we have been in business since 1979. Ranpak is privately owned by its employees and by private institutional investors, the largest of whom is Odyssey Investment Partners, Limited, based in New York City. Ranpak employs over 350 people worldwide, including 185 in the United States, 165 in Europe and the balance in sales offices around the world.
Our company's name, Ranpak, actually is an abbreviation of the words ''random packaging.'' Our products are most effective in applications where customers ship a great number of products of different sizes and weights in a great number of different boxes. The more random the configuration of your packaging need, the more effectively we will address these needs. Ranpak's product versatility eliminates the requirement that your company purchase and warehouse multiple packaging materials.
Simply said, our materials are less expensive and more cost stable than competitive alternatives. Furthermore, our machines allow packers to pack more boxes per minute than any alternative. And, finally, many now claim they are earth-friendly, but the truth is that 56% of the paper that is consumed in the US is recovered for recycling. Many say that their products are, in theory, recyclable, but our product is, in fact, actually recycled.
Every day, throughout the world, Ranpak packaging systems are used to package everything from CD's and DVD's to four hundred pound jet turbines. Our products are used in light-duty top void fill applications and in heavy duty cushioning and bracing applications, and truly every imaginable application in between. Versatility, cost competitiveness and speed are the hallmarks of our products.
